Facial Toners

Should I use a toner or not? You can get various answers depending on who you ask. Our goal in this article is to provide you with a little more information on Facial Toners.

What is a Facial Toner? It can be used to remove any dirt or dead skin cells on the face and it can be used to remove any excess oil left on your face. The alkalinity of the skin can be impacted by various elements such as water, perspiration, cosmetics etc. The facial toner can be used to restore the face to its natural PH level. This will allow the skin to interact better with moisturizers and day or night creams.
Facial Toners also have some other added benefits. They can be used to clean the pores which allows the pores to remain small thus giving the appearance of smooth skin. They can hydrate the skin and they can provide a very soothing and refreshing feeling on your face. Our toners are alcohol-free and are made with pure hydrosols. Hydrosols are the pure water that is produced from plants and flowers as a result of the distillation process. Hydrosols provide all of the benefits of essential oils without the intensity of using an essential oil directly on the face. Here are some of the common hydrosols that can be found in our Facial Toners:
  • Lavender: gentle and soothing and also balances PH levels
  • Chamomile: calming and relaxing; an option for burns, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea
  • Neroli: Very refreshing and uplifting
  • Rose: Antibacterial, rejuvenating, balancing and cooling
  • Melissa: Calming and known to be anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-viral and anti-fungal
  • Witch Hazel: Soothing for rashes, itching, swelling, scaling and an option for eczema and psoriasis
  • Peppermint: Refreshing and invigorating
  • Helichrysum: Anti-inflammatory and gentle for sensitive skin. Used in our toner for Rosacea
Our Facial Toners have been handcrafted for various skin types which are as follows:
  • Face Synergy Firming Botanical Facial Toner
  • Face Synergy Facial Toner and Spritzer (Mature)
  • Face Synergy Facial Toner and Spritzer (Rosacea)
  • Face Synergy Facial Toner and Spritzer Acne Toner (Acne and Troubled Skin)
  • Face Synergy Facial Toner and Spritzer with AC. Net (Acne and Troubled Skin)
Everyday we battle the elements of nature such as the sun, wind and the climate to name a few. Compounding this could be the use of any products used on the face including makeup. Remember, the key to face care in light of these obstacles, is to keep the pores of the face clean and small. Small clean pores gives the appearance of smooth skin. A daily regimen of a cleanser, toner and moisturizer will put you well on your way to accomplishing your goal.

Botanical Facial Cleanser

How well do you take care of your face? Do you really know how to take care of our face? What is in the face care products that you are using? These are some of the questions that we ask our customers on a daily basis. The purpose of this article is to empower you with the tools to make educated decisions regarding your face and the products that you use.

There are two things to remember about the face. First, it is important to keep the pores clean. Second, it is important to keep the pores small. Now, basic face care begins with washing. What you wash your face with is very important. The Body and Bath's handcrafted Botanical Facial Cleanser is a gentle cleanser with great emolience and has the conditioning properties of a lotion. The mild foaming action is derived from corn, coconut and sugar beet. These are then emulsified to a creamy consistency. Now, here is where the real fun comes in. Chamomile, Aloe, Cucumber and Japanese Green Tea extracts are used to soothe and tighten. They also act as an anti-oxidant on the skin. Are you starting to get the picture of a spa in your mind? Now these botanicals don't just feel good, they also can assist in epidermal problems and inflammation. Each have extensive historical data. Now, you may ask, "what kind of skin does this work on?" Great question! This cleanser is gentle on all skin types and suitable for daily use. Now, keep in mind, since this is designed specifically for the face, fragrance can sensitize the skin and should be kept at low levels. If you use makeup, this also can be used for makeup removal.

Well, now you know a little bit more about this facial cleanser, here is how we recommend the application:
  • Wet or dampen the face
  • Apply a quarter-sized amount into the palm of your hand
  • Gently wash your face for 2 minutes
  • Remember to be gentle under your eyes to avoid breaking blood vessels
  • Rinse well with at least 12 splashes
  • Pat dry with a clean towel
Now here are some quick tips regarding caring for your face.
  • Avoid aggressive pulling or tugging on your face
  • Use great care when touching under the eyes. Blood vessels break very easily there which could lead to a discoloration under the eyes otherwise known as dark circles
  • Use creams on your face for moisturizing
Remember all of our products are handcrafted using natural ingredients which are easily synthesized by the body without Side-Effects. We are always DEA and Paraben free with all of our products. We also don't use Petrolatum or any petroleum-based products, Mineral Oil, Lanolin or any animal products.

When it comes to your face, you can't be too careful. We place great care in crafting products to help you look and feel your best. We hope that you found this article informative.
Look forward to our continuing series on Face Care!!!!!!

Body Firming Milk Lotion

This is a lotion that lives up to its name! Body Firming Milk Lotion is a total body moisturizer for both men and women with firming and toning action. Softening oils of grape seed, safflower, sweet almond and shea butter give the performance of a cream. Natural olive based Squalane is highly effective in decreasing dryness, smoothing scaly skin and creates a hydrating barrier to reduce transdermal water loss. Extracts of gingko biloba and olive leaf, blended with white, green and red teas offer a high level of polyphenol (anti-oxidant) properties and function as free radical scavengers. It has been enriched with vitamin E and vitamin B3 (niacin) which is becoming more important for skin repair.

Glaucine is the ingredient that stimulates lipolisis, diminishing fat cells and the appearance of cellulite and double chin.
This can be used for those that are athletic or have experienced recent weight loss.

This lotion has a very thick consistency and can be used in the evening after bathing.
This lotion can be used from the neck down. It is not intended for facial use. Look for the Body Firming Milk Lotion on our website, www.bodyandbathonline.com. You will find it in the Wellness category.

Body Butters

Body Butters are a great choice for dry skin. Thirsty skin will relish the penetrating moisture of Body Butters. You will find the Body Butters to be thick in texture, glides on lushly, soaks in quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft, soothed and nourished. Our Body Butters are enriched with Shea Butter, Grapeseed Oil and Japanese Green Tea extract to name a few. We believe in nourishing the skin from the inside out. We use oils that are small enough to penetrate into the pores and not lay on top of the pores. This will only clog the pores and actually dry out your skin. Believe it or not, this will cause you to have to buy more and more moisturizing products. For this reason we don't use the following in any of our products:
  • Petrolatum
  • Petroleum Jelly
  • Mineral Oil
  • Lanolin
  • DEA
  • Parabens
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Body Butters are heavier than lotion and they are the ultimate in hydration. Used regularly luminescent, supple and healthy skin will return to areas once parched and depleted.

Here are some tips to fully enjoying the benefits of our Body Butters. We suggest using Body Butters after evening bath time. (Anytime works though)
  • Pick an enjoyable scent or unscented (that one is your choice)
  • Massage gently over the entire body
  • Use big circles and take caution to not tug and pull on your skin
  • Don't forget about the heels, knees and elbows
  • You are now experiencing the "Body and Bath Effect"
